Fall Life Update
How my life has changed with the season.
Written by Jess Noel
Well y’all, it’s officially been 3 months since launching The Twenty Smthings! If you’ve been here since the beginning, thank you for embarking on this journey with me. If you’re new here, then hi! I’m Jess Noel, and welcome to my little online home. I’m so happy you’re here.
Since my launch in June of this year, so much has changed. I figured maybe it’s time for a little update.
So, what’s new?
To start, The Twenty Smthings has gained so many new followers. When I started this little blog, I was afraid not many people would resonate with my content. Boy, was I wrong! Your messages, likes, comments, all of it truly means the world. My mission has been to create an online platform to share my story in a way that lets people know they aren’t alone.
I recently started a new job, and it’s one I never saw coming. If you know me or have been following along, you know my background is in education. After a few years in the field, I started to think maybe it’s not what I’m meant to do. I studied digital marketing in my spare time, hoping that I’d be able to make the switch. Little did I know that would be easier said than done. After what felt like having applied to hundreds of jobs, well…maybe it was hundreds, I started to feel defeated. Next thing I know, I’m interviewing for a digital arts teaching position. As a former English teacher, this was something I never imagined would become a part of my resume. The coolest part about my job? I get to teach students how to build brands, logos, ad campaigns, graphics, you name it! I get to teach them everything I love about the digital media world. God works in mysterious ways. I knew that in this moment I had to trust him and follow his lead.
Growing in my digital media skills, I also stepped into a new service role at my church. I’ve been looking for ways to practice my skills and grow my credibility, so why not serve my church and community while doing so? It’s been fun putting my skills to work on a new platform for a new audience!
I can’t forget how much I’ve learned about my own skills when it comes to marketing. I’ve recently been working with friends who have brands of their own to grow in their own social media platforms. (Shout-out to them! Y’all are rockstars!). Being able to coach someone else and share my knowledge has been an incredible learning experience.
In the end, there is only one way I have been able to weather to all of this change. Putting my trust in the Lord and his plan is what constantly reminds me that it will turn out alright. I can plan as much as I want, but if it’s not in his plan then it's not meant to be. Spending time regularly in prayer helps keep me grounded in trusting Him. If you don’t know that trust or are unsure how to rely on Him, please reach out. I’d love to chat.
So, that’s life right now! I’m spending time balancing out my new schedule, healing myself, and praying that I can see His plan clearly. I know not everything will make sense to me right now, that maybe I can’t see why certain doors open and others close, but I know it’s all a part of the journey. I’m just glad you’re here to follow along.
