The Burning
The reality of anxiety and trauma told through a short story.
Written by Jess Noel
When sitting down to write this week's scheduled post, I found my brain wandering back to sharing my story of living with anxiety. Unable to focus on a new post this week, I decided to revisit a short story I wrote for a college elective.
For this story, I decided to write a fictional piece about a girl in her twenties who is wrestling with anxiety and trauma that manifested after a bad relationship. The idea behind it is to show how this burden can consume someone whole. After taking the time re-read and edit this piece, I thought to myself why not share this on the blog?
So, for this week's post, I have decided to take a leap of faith in sharing this fictional work with the intent of bringing awareness to what it's like to live with such fear. It's also in attempt to open a door for those struggling with anxiety and trauma to know they aren't alone, and there is reprieve on the horizon. This story is a fictional telling based on shared experiences between myself, my friends, and family.
You do not need to have a deep connection to this story to read it. In fact, I encourage you to read it anyway to gain an understanding of what others around you may be carrying with them. I ask that you take this in with an open and caring mind.
